Napa Valley, as one of the most famous wine regions in the United States, is renowned for its exceptional wine quality and beautiful scenery. The Napa River runs through the valley, providing a crucial water source for the surrounding vineyards. In 1859, the first commercial winery in Napa Valley, Beringer Vineyards, was established. Soon after, wineries such as Charles Krug Winery and St. Helena Winery opened, laying the foundation for the wine industry in Napa Valley.

It wasn't until the 1976 Paris Tasting, where Napa Valley garnered international fame. The Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, selected by French experts, surpassed the finest French wines, receiving high praise. This event not only enhanced the reputation of Napa Valley wines but also changed the global perception of American wine regions.

Geographical Location

Napa Valley is located in Northern California, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northeast of San Francisco. The area is oriented north-south, approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) long and about 5 miles (8 kilometers) wide at its widest point.

Napa Valley is surrounded on both sides by the Mayacamas Mountains and the Vaca Range.

• Production data: As of 2022, Napa Valley's vineyard area is approximately 17,401 hectares, with an annual wine production of around 4,000,000 cases, each case containing 12 bottles, totaling about 48,000,000 bottles. There are over 400 wineries, with primary grape varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Zinfandel.

Main Grape Varieties:

1. Cabernet Sauvignon

• Description: The most prominent red grape variety in Napa Valley, occupying over 50% of vineyard area.
